Leopardwood
Item#: leopardwood

Product Description
It is often confused with Lacewood, because they have similar characteristics. However, Leopardwood is denser, darker in color, and more fragile.

The species is found in Central to South America, especially Brazil and is somewhat rare.

The sapwood color is reddish brown with strong broad rays while the heartwood is chocolate colored. The one thing that separates this wood from others is that it features "leopard spots" inside the wood itself. The spots are a lighter brown that give the wood a unique textured look and feel. The grain is straight and interlocked and moderately fine to medium in textured

This wood is used for a variety of purposes from making pens and instruments to its use for flooring and cabinetry.
